Oh sheesh, you didn't really think I'd tell did you?

Killing folks is serious buisiness and not to be taken lightly.

The consequences of killing someone are huge.

Don't do it.

Run away

Running is an excellent technique.

(walking away is a little more dignified if you can manage it)

Besides, most of the ways I know to kill someone (like oh, say run over them with a truck) are ways you can figure out for yourself, and for the most part are a lot harder to accomplish than you'd think... Think about it... if there were lots of spots on our body that were easy to reach, where a tap would result in death, don't you think there would be a lot more people dying from bumping into office furniture?

This is not to say that there aren't places where it's relatively easy to kill someone... for example, the Adam's apple... they show it in the movies, you hear about it in books...everyone who has even a passing interest in the martial arts has probably heard about it heard a thousand times,"kick someone in the Adam's apple and they die."

But I remember the first time I got kicked in the Adam's apple. Please read that again. And then think about it. I'm typing this. I've been kicked in the throat. More than once. It's a lot harder to kill someone that way than you might have heard, and it is still one of the easiest ways to kill someone.

Killing people is not easy, and it's not worth the consequences. Don't do it.

Speaking of the consequences... not just of killing someone, but of resorting to violence, ever.... I had a teacher once who explained it something like this...

When you are a little kid, you threaten someone by saying, "My daddy can beat up ,your daddy..."

You get a little older, and the threat changes, "I can beat you up."

When you finally grow up the threat beomes, "My lawyer can beat up your lawyer."

And if you attack someone the odds are very good that their lawyer can beat up your lawyer. And if you defend yourself against someone, the odds are still not that bad that their lawyer might be able to beat up your lawyer. In our litigatious society you could defend yourself against someone, clear cut self defense... they swing at you first, out of the blue, just because they didn't like your face, your carefully honed martial arts reflexes kick in and you break their arm... You are not prosecuted in the criminal system because it was such a clear cut case of self defence, BUT they sue you for their lost wages, plus pain and suffering, plus punative damages. They get a freindly (and dim witted) jury, a jury full of people who may have been in one or two brawls themselves, and nobody ever got hurt, not seriously, not like a broken arm that could keep somebody from working... a jury that rewards them everything they are asking for. Or maybe you win... but in this case is winning really winning, you are still out lawyer fees, and a lot of time.

My advice? avoid the situation. Don't step on anybody's toes. Walk away whenever you can. Run when you can't.
